About Oliva
I will be studying at Swansea University, but would like to teach maths as I've come to enjoy it. I've studied at Upton Court Grammar School with some really enthusiastic teachers that made maths fun. But I believe some of the best maths tutors were actually my peers, as it helped seeing another student's perspective in conceptualising a problem. I hope to create an environment where you feel comfortable asking any questions, make learning fun and prioritise what is best for you :)

Hey there!
I am a novice tutor who has finished A-levels this year. During my secondary school years, I achieved an 8 in GCSE maths as well as bronze and silver awards in the UKMT challenges. In the past four years, I mentored peers and younger students at our school's student study hub and have experience tutoring younger children (11+ age range) as well. In my teaching approach, I've been described as patient, encouraging and good at simplifying complex concepts.
I've also had a fair share of tutors, I know as a student what qualities a good tutor should have and strive to implement these into my lessons. My lessons are personalised and adapted to each student's need but have a systematic approach with homework. I will request a topic that the student is previously struggling with, and in the lesson find out any misconceptions or misunderstandings with practice questions. From there we will go through the theory together and apply it to questions of different difficulty levels (even some from olympiads). Through this I hope to clarify concepts and develop both problem-solving skills and confidence in maths :)
