Teaching is such a rewarding profession as we see the results of our hard work in action on daily basis. The knowledge we impart to students helps unlock their capabilities and transfer what’s learnt to everyday life situations. Our role is to make learning more tangible, move it from the concrete to the abstract and help students make meaningful connections. Abstract thinking help foster deeper understanding as students evaluate information, incorporate learning to various situations and discover several perspectives and ideas to taught topics . In my classroom, abstract thinking is promoted through discussions, problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, debates, and group projects. Moreover, as I deal with abstract concepts all the time, such as cell theory, respiration and photosynthesis, I strive to provide lots of practical demonstrations, simulations,3-D models and hypothesis driven experiments to support a deeper grasp of concepts and allow for authentic real-life exciting experiences.
