About Katie
I have been teaching since 2012, when I earned my teaching certification in Nashville, Tennessee. After teaching 1st grade at a Dual language immersion school, I decided to switch to private tutoring via online classes.
I began learning Spanish as a second language when I was 14 years old and have been fluent for over a decade. I've spent many years living in Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia. I am familiar with the process of learning Spanish as a second language, since that was my own experience. This helps me know how best to explain concepts to students who are learning Spanish for the first time, as I can relate to their experience.

Hi. My name's Katie and I'm a former Spanish immersion classroom teacher turned online tutor for kids learning Spanish.
I teach online classes via Zoom and work with all levels, from absolute beginners to students who study in a Spanish immersion program and want more personalized support.
In my classes I take an immersion approach, especially with younger students who are able to absorb the new language quickly. I use a lot of visuals so that students are able to process the new language easily and we spend a lot of time practicing the target vocabulary by speaking.
I like to make lessons engaging and fun by including games, videos, songs and stories in Spanish. Lessons are also interactive for kids who are older and have more experience using a computer. They will be able to write on the screen, drag objects, type, etc.
My approach is very personalized, so depending on your child's experience with the language and goals for learning Spanish, the class will be tailored specifically for them.
