About Loyalty
Hi, I am David Baker Jr. I am completing my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language at Oregon State University in Corvallis and will graduate in December 2026. I have been on the Honor Roll for the past two years.
My coursework includes beginning through advanced Spanish, linguistics, and the Mexican immigrant experience in the United States. That mix matters for tutoring: I can explain how the language works and I also understand the culture and real-life situations where Spanish is used in the U.S.
I am a native English speaker with advanced academic Spanish in speaking, reading, and writing. I am patient, organized, and comfortable on a computer, so online lessons are straightforward.
I am a new tutor. What I offer is current university-level training, a calm teaching style, and lessons built around your goal—whether that is passing a class, talking with relatives, or becoming more confident at work.

I teach Spanish the way I learned it at Oregon State: lots of speaking, clear explanations, and practice that matches your real life—not just a textbook chapter.
A typical lesson looks like this:
We start with a short warm-up in Spanish so you get used to hearing and using the language.
We focus on one useful skill: pronunciation, verb tenses, vocabulary for work or travel, or the homework you brought.
I explain grammar in plain English when you need it, then we put it right back into conversation.
You leave with a small practice goal for the week so the language does not disappear between sessions.
I work well with complete beginners, high school and college students who need homework or exam support, and adults who want to speak more naturally with family, coworkers, or customers. Lessons can be fully in English, fully in Spanish, or mixed, depending on your level.
Lessons are one-on-one. I teach online nationwide and can discuss in-person options in the Olivehurst / Yuba-Sutter area.
