About Jacqueline
I gained a BA (Hons) 2-1 in English Literature and Philosophy from Middlesex University and worked in non-profit organisations for a long time. I qualified as a counsellor in the 2000s and worked as a volunteer counsellor for several years before retiring from my main job and deciding to become a private tutor. My counselling skills I feel always help me communicate well with students who often have a hard time at school or college managing their workloads.
English is a great love of mine and I get enormous satisfaction from helping students learn and make progress in both English Language and English Literature. I became an examiner for AQA whilst teaching and this has greatly informed my practice as I know what the examiners are looking for.

I love my subject and aim to make lessons enjoyable as well as productive for my students. I teach GCSE English Language, English Literature and A Level English Language. I've worked in two major London colleges with students of all abilities and backgrounds for over 20 years and have been tutoring since 2017. My lessons normally last one hour and are usually conducted online over Zoom. I like to start by establishing a rapport and exactly what my tutees need so we can decide on a plan. I provide materials via email (i.e., exam past papers) but can work with students' own material (i.e., homework) as well. I like to set homework each week if students are willing and able to do this and make sure I communicate with parents regularly about their children's progress.
