Hey there!

✪ I am lecturing at OXFORD UNI's Summer Schools Programme, and I'm continuing to receive invitations to return. (That's me at St. Hilda's College in my profile picture!)

✪ I worked at BCG, the world's TOP 3 most prestigious advisory firm. BCG alumni include Mitt Romney and the CEO of Pepsi. Sounds familiar?

✪ I've tutored over 200 students. 92% of them have earned an A*-A.

✪ All while still a 22-YEAR-OLD fresh Econs graduate from WARWICK! I (probably) follow the same TikTok creators as your kids!

✪ Before that, I was also an award-winning student:
I received the Outstanding Scholar Award from the Viet Ministry of Education Reserved for the top 50 students of an entire generation, and despite VN's intense academic environment, I did this while skipping pretty much 100% of my homework.

☆ In the end, teaching has always been the most fulfilling part of my career. And so I am here, putting everything I learned as both teacher and student to help your kids land your dream offer.
☆ And I do mean dream offer... My students are now at LSE, Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick, UCL... I honestly lost count...

Economics is easy! ...No, it really is. Because I use 6 unique ideas to ensure this:

➊ EXPLAIN LIKE I'M 5: If someone can't explain a concept to a goldfish, then they don't understand it. This is my guiding philosophy. Every single topic, from inflation to the Yen Carry Trade of August 2024, is explained in incredibly simple terms.

➋ NO HOMEWORK, MINIMUM NOTE-TAKING: Perhaps my most controversial, yet most effective difference-maker. My top-performing cohorts all adopt a minimalistic way of studying. And it is this exact TRIMMING that has led to fewer notes, less stress, and fewer mistakes.

➌ AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE: Coming from a cutthroat Asian background and a family full of teachers, I have mastered how to run laps around the examiners. An oddly worded MCQ here... a vague question there... and I can tell you EXACTLY what tricks are being played on you, and how you can jump over them.

Every single one of my techniques has been VERIFIED directly by examiners, so you can rest easy knowing you are truly one step ahead.

➍ TWO-WAY FEEDBACK: A student that feels heard, will listen. I strongly believe results come heavily from feedback. So, at the end of EVERY lesson, I ask students to give honest two-way feedback so I can improve.

➎ REAL-LIFE SCENARIOS & CONTENT: News is updated every week. So is my content. Ever heard demand-pull inflation be explained via Mr. Beast? Or international trade be discussed through the rise of Taylor Swift's tours? I keep things relevant, and show you exactly how to make connections to real life.

➏ SECRET TECH TIPS: All tools and resources are given free, and chosen based on corporate industry best practices. Learn secret tools you'll use in everyday life soon! Not only that, I'll teach them how to 'hack' these tools, to get papers and answer other student don't have access to ;)

◉ EX-STUDENTS NOW AT Cambridge, LSE, Berkeley, UChicago, Warwick, Imperial, UCL, and more!
◉ Proficient in all boards: Edexcel, AQA, OCR.
◉ Guide through UCAS, personal statements, and university advice!

I teach students in: ‣ University ‣ A/S ‣ A-Level ‣ GCSE

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

It was easy to notice teachers who were deeply passionate and inspirational during my own schooling years. They were the ones that could make magic out of studying, and the passion they gave me really changed my life. I feel like I'm just doing my duty for the next generation.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Haha, there is no topic I do not like to teach! (Although being good at teaching is a different story :P). My main topics are Economics, Maths, and English Language. I am actually the youngest Viet students to achieve a 9.0 in my English IELTS exam, and a big part of that success I attribute to all the creative ways my teacher would explain the topics.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

During my A-Levels, I had a Maths teacher named Mr. Green. He was incredible at teaching with clarity. He would spend only the first 5 minutes of the class explaining the topic in extremely simple terms, then the remainder 55 he solved problems alongside us silently. First glance I thought he was just tired, but the silent self-work actually strengthened our Maths creativity in very sneaky ways.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The obvious is knowledge, empathy, and patience. But creativity is an unsung hero. Sometimes the students surprise me, and I often have to take a step back and silently watch as they make their own connections. Each student is unique, and it is a pleasure to watch them create their own cool mental models.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I've worked extensively in Business, and one anecdote that applies extremely well is "The customer is always right." You don't get to choose which topics they need help with, the only choice you have is whether you can help them or not.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I make custom syllabuses for each and every student, so a challenge I am grateful to have is when I have to come up with new analogies and examples to better explain a topic. My proudest on-the-fly analogy I've made was when I used Mr. Beast in an example to explain real wage inflexibility in Economics!
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My family has been educators, teachers, and principals for generations. It has always been one reason: To save the world, through our children.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

Haha, the best feeling I get is when I can make my students genuinely laugh. Whether it's with me or at me, that genuine connection is something very hard to build but extremely rewarding.
