About Carmen
My journey through the British and International Baccalaureate systems—has given me a unique perspective on how to navigate high-pressure exams successfully both in the UK domestic and international level.
Beyond my academic studies, I serve as the Captain of the Oxford Women’s Cheerleading team. This role has instilled in me a high level of discipline, patience, and the ability to motivate others towards a goal—skills that I bring directly into my tutoring sessions.
I chose to become a tutor because I find it incredibly rewarding to help students demystify skill-based subjects. I know exactly how overwhelming the jump to GCSE or IB can feel, and I want to provide the support and confidence-building that helped me succeed. My goal is to make academic achievement feel accessible and manageable for every student I work with.

I am a first-year Law undergraduate at the University of Oxford, offering tailored online tutoring for GCSE and IB English (Literature and Language). Having achieved eleven 9s at GCSE and a 45/45 IB Diploma score, I have a deep understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to master complex mark schemes.
My Approach:
My teaching method focuses on critical analysis and essay-structuring techniques. I don't just teach the content; I teach students how to think like an examiner. Whether we are breaking down unseen poetry or refining a Comparative Essay for the IB, I prioritise building a student's confidence in their own academic voice.
Target Audience: GCSE and IB students (all levels/ages).
Lesson Length: Typically 60 minutes, though I can offer longer sessions for intensive exam revision.
Personalisation: Every lesson is supported by high-quality resources, essay feedback, and active-recall strategies to ensure long-term retention.
