About Sam
I studied Biology, Chemistry and Geography at A-Level in London and graduated from the University of Leeds with a First Class BSc Honors Degree in Environmental Biogeoscience. I went on to complete my PhD at the Open University and worked as a lecturer and research scientist at Oxford University for 6 years. I then completed my teacher training qualifications (PGCE QTS) at the University of Buckingham.
During my time as a teacher, I have developed a real passion for working with children, responding effectively to challenges, gaining many experiences, and constantly refining my teaching according to specific children's needs. I've had varied teaching experiences having taught in a top Boy's private school and more recently, in a mixed comprehensive inner-city London school.
It is true that no school can compare with one-to-one tuition and whilst having taught all exam specifications, I specialise in preparation for exams; revision and exam technique. I actively encourage students to take control of their learning and development, which in turn motivates pupils and enables them to develop their personal learning and thinking skills. I strive to make the teaching environment a place where every learner can feel comfortable formulating, debating and expressing their own opinions.
