About Ethan
I am a second year student reading music at the University of Oxford, and have a passion for sharing my love of music. I am an experienced orchestral and solo tuba player with strong skills in musicology, musical analysis, and music theory. I am also a composer and conductor. My aim is for students to learn the skills they need for exams, but also to be able to apply these to their constant wider musical development.

My focus is on exam achievement paired with a holistic music education that provides students with the skills they need to succeed both in music and in education more generally. I am keen to take on students who are aiming for top grades, as well as those who need a little help to reach their musical potential. Teaching typically takes the form of hour-long, online one-to-one sessions over the school holidays (a perfect time to catch up with some learning, and to solidify your understanding before the next term), with teaching based on the Oxford tutorial system and tailored to help students reach their potential. I teach AQA GCSE and A Level Music, as well as all levels of ABRSM Music Theory to students of all ages.

His knowledge and ability in harmony and counterpoint is better and more rigorous than I could ever hope for mine to be (and I live and breathe that kind of music as an organ scholar)!
