About Ellen
My name is Ellen, I come from Northern Ireland and I love maths, solving puzzles, and helping people to achieve their goals. Since graduating Oxford, I qualified as a teacher, gained a PGDE in secondary mathematics and spent three years teaching a wide range of students at secondary level. I believe that all students can achieve in maths and nothing inspires me more than going on a journey with a student to improve their maths confidence and help them develop the skills they need to succeed.

I have three years of experience supporting students on an individual basis linked to my classroom teaching responsibilities. I believe that maths is best studied through doing so in my lessons we will solve problems together (either a student will come to me with particular questions, they will suggest a particular topic and I will find problems related to the qualification they are studying for, or we will cover some mixed topic questions). Enough support is given for the student to feel comfortable answering that question or a similar one themselves. Typically a lesson will last one hour. I have experience in all age and ability levels in secondary maths and can also cover upper Key Stage 2.
