About Carla
Kia ora! My name is Carla and I am a UK National living and working in Aotearoa New Zealand. I am an experienced tutor in drama and literature, with a strong track record of helping people achieve their goals. I will work with you as an individual to establish your goals, and together we will agree on a clear path towards success, whatever that means to you. I particularly enjoy helping people unlock text through engaging and surprising approaches to analysis, and introducing people to the power of the written and spoken word. I am an encouraging, adaptable and open-minded tutor who is interested in working with my students to find the most appropriate and effective approach to learning for them. Everything I do is geared towards setting students up for success and building confidence in their ability. I believe open communication, respect and kindness with a pinch of good fun creates the perfect environment in which to learn and achieve your goals. A typical lesson is 30-60 minutes depending on topic, personal aims and budget. We can agree on whether or not setting tasks outside this time is right for you and your learning style. I hold a master's degree in English Literature from the University of Oxford. I have prepared secondary school students for assessments and entry exams, specializing in modern literature, drama and critical analysis. I am also a trained actor with professional experience as a performer and tutor in public speaking and performance. I have a wealth of experience working with people of all ages, from the very young through to professional adults. Using my skills and experience as a trained relational dynamics coach, I have a strong track record building confidence and helping people overcome barriers to achieve their goals.
