About Peter
My name is Peter and I am currently taking a gap year before going to University. I have always loved sharing my passion for mathematics and there is no better way to do this than by tutoring!
Last year, I achieved strong A* grades in my Maths, Further Maths and Physics A Level's.
I have experience tutoring students at both GCSE and A-Level. I tutored mathematics to pupils from my previous secondary school. During these sessions, I taught content to the students that they had not fully understood in class. I helped them to consolidate their understanding further by collaboratively working through topic-specific example questions with them, including exam questions where appropriate. I then advised on where to find more questions on the topics they were struggling on as after you understand the content, doing lots of questions is often the best way to improve at mathematics. I first started helping students with mathematics just over two years ago, so have a wealth of experience to help decide the best way to support students.

From my previous experience, I am well aware that everyone learns best in different ways. There is no one size fits all approach to tutoring and I am happy to adapt my teaching style to suit each individual tutee.
An example session may go something like this: You let me know an area of mathematics that you are struggling on. I then teach you the content from the syllabus on this area of mathematics along with any tips or tricks I know and we then go through example questions on this topic together. I will then set you some homework questions, a few of which you will send to me to be marked before the next session so that I am confident you have fully grasped the topic. I often find that students struggle greatly on the ‘Problem Solving’ questions in A Level mathematics exams so I try to set as many questions as possible where you are applying the mathematics you have learnt in a novel way. What I will say is that it is often the effort that students put in between sessions that really helps them to improve!
Having sat my A Level examinations last year, I know the Maths and Further Maths syllabuses inside out so will be able to help you with any topics or questions you are struggling with. I am happy to teach Maths to all exam boards. For Further Maths I am happy to teach Edexcel, OCR and AQA.
