About Linyan
I hold a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor’s degree from a top 985 university in China. I have strong academic training in mathematics, logic, and problem-solving. I previously tutored a high-school student from Maple Leaf International School (a Canadian–Chinese dual-curriculum program with English-taught math courses) for three years, from Grade 10 to Grade 12. With consistent weekly lessons, she successfully improved her grades and was admitted to the University of Victoria. I grew up in a family of teachers—my mother is a middle-school math teacher, and my father teaches geography—so education has always been part of my life. This background helped me develop patience, clarity, and strong communication skills when working with students.

My lessons focus on: Building strong foundations in Algebra, Functions, and Trigonometry Step-by-step explanations that make difficult concepts easier to understand Improving homework performance, quiz/test preparation, and confidence Teaching problem-solving skills instead of memorizing formulas Supporting students taking Ontario curriculum courses (MTH1W, MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U) I adjust my teaching style based on each student’s level, pace, and learning habits.
