About Doris
Feeling the rhythm of a blues progression is easier when you understand how to listen to the music, so we focus on ear training and electric technique. Because I studied at the UBC School of Music, I incorporate a high level of theory into our guitar work to ensure you understand why certain notes sound better than others.
We make sure the guitar is properly maintained so your instrument never hinders your progress. It is quite rewarding to help kids and adults alike find their own sound while navigating the neck. The progress happens naturally as we explore the nuances of your preferred style, letting the music lead the way.

Spending 13 years in the music studio has taught me how to break down complex guitar movements into manageable segments. I have worked with 126 students including kids, self-taught adults, and those aiming for grade exams. My BMus training at the UBC School of Music provides a foundation that spans far beyond the strings.
I secondary studied guitar and voice to ensure I could provide a wide range of musical perspectives. It is satisfying to see intermediate learners grasp difficult chord transitions or master blues progressions. Tuning and maintenance are just as important as playing the actual notes.
