About Jaya
Hi! I'm Jaya Castro, and I'm based in Miami, FL. I have always been into science (I just finished off my year as Co-President of Science National Honor Society), but over the past couple of years I have developed an appreciation for math, too. It did take me a while - don't get me wrong. I love learning and teaching others, and if you pick me as a tutor, I can't wait to help you understand whatever subject makes you stare at your paper in boredom. I am here to spread the knowledge I have gained from my strong academic background, but also to serve as a friend to sympathize with the struggle of your likely difficult middle or high school course load. I promise to be both patient and considerate, and to help steer your journey towards success!

As a tutor, I strive to build both students' knowledge and confidence in their abilities. I can say myself that when I walk into a test worried, I am sure not to perform to the best of my abilities. A typical lesson would include a brief review of study material, an explanation (if needed) of topics misunderstood, and then several practice problems for the student to rehearse what they have learned and feel ready to take on their next exam. I am fresh out of high school, enrolling in Dartmouth in the fall, so I am lucky to say I have both the experience necessary and the ability to sympathize with students over the difficulty of their materials. An AP Scholar with Distinction, I have obtained 4's and 5's on all of my past AP Exams - including Calculus AB, Environmental Science, and Biology. However, I also understand how overwhelming AP courses can seem and I can promise I will be there to help students get a handle on how to manage heavy course loads. I tutor middle and high school students, including those in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Environmental Science, and other AP classes (including histories). As a National Merit Finalist, I also am able to offer help with test prep and general study strategies if needed!
