About Joseph
Hello! I'm Joseph, an experienced Economics and Business Studies tutor. I hold a first-class degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham. Before beginning my studies in Nottingham, I achieved A levels in Economics (A*), Politics (A*), Business (A*) and Mathematics (B). Having tutored for both GCSEs and A levels for four years, I have learnt the value of sharing my passion for current affairs with students to keep their subjects engrossing and applicable to the real world - while helping them prepare for the level of context required to succeed in exams.

Taking advantage of the one-to-one nature of private tuition, I deliver conversation-led lessons that explore the syllabus in a collaborative way, prompting students to engage with the subject and its importance properly. While explaining economic arguments to students, I encourage them to evaluate whether these arguments hold - a crucial skill for exam success. To help students perform in exams, I spend a large portion of a lesson helping a student plan and begin to write an essay in response to past exam questions.

Joseph is a highly able tutor with a passion for economics. Furthermore, he is a skilled mathematician, which allows him not only to confidently handle the practical side of economics, but also to tutor maths - both of which he has long-running experience with.
At Alumni Tutoring, he developed a methodology that ensured he kept his students engaged by making his lessons relevant to current events. Joseph has the rare attribute of being both highly intelligent and highly personable; certainly two attributes that one looks for in a tutor! I wasn't surprised to hear that a GCSE student that he'd taken on for a provisional basis in the run-ups for exams asked him for 2 more years of tutoring to get him through business and economics.
