About Dale
As a qualified teacher and working musician, I bring both academic expertise and real-world experience to every lesson. I hold a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music Performance and a PGCE, and I’ve taught students at college and university level (Levels 1–6) across a range of music subjects including vocals, music production, theory, songwriting, and stagecraft. My students value my calm, encouraging approach and the way I break down complex ideas into manageable steps. Whether you’re preparing for a course, working towards a career in music, or simply want to develop your skills and confidence, I offer professional, structured support tailored to your goals. My teaching approach is supportive, flexible, and student-centred. I adapt each lesson to suit the learner’s individual goals and skill level, using a mix of practical tasks, guided exploration, and clear, structured explanations. Whether we’re working on vocal technique, songwriting, music production, theory, or stagecraft, I always aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students can grow in confidence as well as skill. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, but I can tailor the length depending on student needs and focus areas. I use a variety of methods including guided listening, lyric analysis, DAW-based activities (e.g. Logic Pro), vocal exercises, visual aids, and performance coaching techniques. I also incorporate constructive feedback, collaborative goal-setting, and creative challenges to keep learning engaging and relevant. I hold a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music Performance, specialising in vocals, and a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education. I’ve taught Levels 1 to 6 in both college and university settings, and I also have professional experience in the music industry as a vocalist, songwriter, and stage performer. My lessons are suitable for students aged 16+, from college learners (Levels 1–3) to undergraduate university students (Levels 4–6), as well as adult learners looking to build or refresh their music skills in a supportive and professional online setting.
