About Sean
I obtained a First-Class BSc degree in Biochemistry from the University of Glasgow last year, receiving three prizes for academic performance including top graduate in life sciences. I am currently undertaking a research master's degree in Pharmacology also at UofG and hope to continue in academia. I have achieved As at National 5 and Higher level for all my subjects including biology, chemistry, and maths and additionally studied chemistry (A) and biology (C) at Advanced Higher level. Therefore, with my extensive knowledge of these subjects, I feel confident in my ability to help students that may be struggling with understanding and applying the course material. I have always shown an interest in teaching, through assisting classes during secondary school, helping students in University labs, and now tutoring through Zoom. I find it satisfying to help others and watch their progression over time as they improve both their grades and general understanding.

I want to ensure learning is enjoyable and not stressful, creating a positive environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions throughout. There is no minimum requirement for understanding and I have worked with children of varied ages and ability. To make online tutoring easier, I have an electronic writing pad that allows everything I write down to be broadcasted directly to the student’s screen. I plan lessons in advance based on what topic the student would like to work on and tailor content to individual needs. Homework is set on a weekly basis and past paper questions are regularly practiced to reinforce understanding. I also give my number to students, which they can contact anytime if they are struggling with particular questions/topics and I am always happy to help.
