I know Garrett through tutoring, and he has been one of the most patient and helpful tutors I’ve worked with. He explains things in a way that actually makes sense instead of just rushing through problems, and he always makes sure I understand before moving on.
What I appreciate most about his teaching methods is how adaptable he is. If I don’t understand something one way, he finds another example or explanation until it clicks. He also keeps sessions relaxed and encouraging, which makes it a lot less stressful to ask questions or admit when I’m confused.
One experience that really stood out was when I was struggling before an important exam. Garrett took extra time to go through practice problems step-by-step with me and helped me focus on the concepts I was weakest in. By the end of the session, I felt much more confident, and I ended up doing way better than I expected.

I would highly recommend Garrett as an organic chemistry tutor. To give a bit of background, when Garrett was my tutor, I was taking a graduate-level biochemistry course that relied heavily on the fact that most students had taken multiple organic chemistry courses beforehand. I had not taken organic chemistry before, and in the past had struggled with previous chemistry courses in undergrad. Given those circumstances, Garrett was incredibly approachable and patient during our tutoring sessions. He clearly was very knowledgable and comfortable with the material, which gave him the ability to adapt his explanations to how I thought about the material. With his help, a frustrating and stressful class experience turned into my having a rich understanding of the subject matter, and actually enjoying the class. I entered that class being told a student who hadn't taken organic chemistry was guaranteed to fail, and finished that semester with a high B. I 100% attribute that result to Garrett's teaching style. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
