About Samuel
I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Warwick and offer clear, supportive maths tuition tailored to each student’s needs. I teach all areas of maths up to first-year university level, and I can also help with statistics beyond that.
I currently tutor GCSE Maths and lower secondary students in Years 7–10, including students who have been out of education for a period of time. I also have experience supporting students with autism and other additional needs, and I always adapt lessons to each student’s pace, confidence, and way of learning.
I have also supported students with first-year university statistics. My teaching style is patient, structured, and encouraging: I break difficult topics into manageable steps, build strong foundations, and help students develop confidence as well as mathematical understanding.
Whether you need help catching up, preparing for exams, or strengthening your understanding, I aim to make maths feel clearer and more approachable.

Lessons usually involve clear explanation, worked examples, and practice, with an emphasis on understanding rather than memorising methods. I can help with catching up, strengthening foundations, exam preparation, and improving problem-solving skills.
My aim is to make maths feel more manageable, help students gain confidence, and support steady progress over time.

Perfect! Dr Sam helped me achieve an A in my stats exam. Coming from someone who barely passed math GCSE and had to take a research statistics module, I was really struggling. Dr Sam had the patience to go through question examples with me over and over. He also gave me feedback on my work so I could refine it before submission. There is no doubt he will help you understand the concepts, but definitely make an effort to learn and try your best when working with him! On top of that, he has been incredibly accommodating with the tutoring times, even though I live on a different continent! I'll definitely be reaching back out to him in the future for help with stats or R programming.
