About Carl
I have a PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry (University of York, 2006) and four years post doctoral experience in Oceanography (UCT, 2007-2010). During this time I developed the first ever Earth Systems Science course at UCT. Following this I have over 10 years experience teaching in higher education through a programme. I spent my time in COVID lockdown teaching students online and can now do the same for you.

I've been teaching undergraduates about Earth System's Science, the story of what makes Earth Habitable, for over 10 years now. This encompasses a wide range of topics from the natural sciences- but my main specialism is chemistry (of the atmosphere and oceans).
My student highlight that my teaching is unique because it makes science relevant and fun. My students and my wife also say that my teaching is unique because I think I know everything. My wife seems to think thats not a good thing, but who doesn't want a teacher who knows everything?
I teach in English only.
I am happy to tailor lessons to anyone's specific needs but my classes will typically involve some aspects of developing and practicing speaking skills, reviewing science material through instruction and discussion and then some quizzes and reviews.
I'm comfortable teaching grade 9 and above.
