About Sonali
Hello! I’m Dr. Sonali Sengupta, a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge with over 16 years of research and 8 years of university teaching experience in Biology and Life Sciences. I hold a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics and have taught and supervised students from undergraduate to PhD level in the UK and abroad. My passion lies in helping students discover the beauty and logic of biology — from molecular pathways to whole organisms. I combine scientific expertise with an approachable, patient teaching style that builds both knowledge and confidence. Having worked in world-class institutions like Cambridge, Exeter, and Birmingham, I understand the academic expectations of top universities. I am dedicated, reliable, and genuinely invested in my students’ success. My goal is to help you not just pass exams, but truly understand and enjoy the science of life.

I teach engaging, concept-based Biology lessons tailored to each student’s goals and level. Using visual aids, current research examples, and exam-style practice, I make complex topics clear and relatable. My sessions (usually 50 minutes) emphasise understanding, not memorisation. With over 8 years of university teaching and 16 years of research at Cambridge, Exeter, Birmingham, India and beyond, I help university students gain confidence and excel in Biology and Life Sciences. I can also get engaged for GCSE, A-Level students too.
