About Xenia
I have always enjoyed explaining things to people, and get great satisfaction from seeing how understanding concepts and looking at things in new ways can boost confidence. I have experience in tuition and supervising university students with research projects and lab practicals. I have also helped prepare science workshops for adults and school children, and worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school so have experience of all levels of education.
I have extensive experience in studies of Biology from my time working as a research scientist. I specialised in lab-based work such as molecular biology, synthetic biology and biotechnology, but my background of study is much more broad to include ecology, virology, and biochemistry.
I offer Biology tuition to A-Level, and can cover specialised sessions for BSc and Masters students. For GCSE I offer tuition in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, and for KS2 I offer additional Maths support.
Now I am currently available for home-based visits in the Leeds area where I will come to you to deliver lessons. I adhere to strict hygiene standards and adopt my teaching style for socially distant learning.

For GCSE and A-Level:
I tailor lessons to your syllabus and combine explanation of theory with worked examples and questions. I encourage learner independence and problem solving, giving you the confidence to work through any difficult areas in the future.
For BSc or Masters:
I can provide sessions with advice and techniques for writing lab reports or a larger thesis. I can also help you with getting to grips with the knowledge required for your course modules. My strategy is to focus on a solid understanding of fundamental concepts which will enable you to link ideas across your different course modules.
For KS2:
I focus on keeping lessons effective and fun. We will identify any particular areas you find more challenging and then work out how to make you !
