About Bisma
Hi, I’m Bisma. I’m currently doing my PhD in Artificial Intelligence, and I come from an engineering background where mathematics has always been at the core of everything I’ve studied and worked on. I’ve also tutored at Victoria University of Wellington in advanced programming and data analytics, so I’m very comfortable supporting students in analytical subjects.
I know that math can sometimes feel overwhelming or intimidating. In my experience, most students don’t struggle because they’re “bad at math”, they just need concepts explained in a clearer, simpler way. I focus on breaking topics down step by step and creating a relaxed space where students feel comfortable asking questions without feeling judged.
I’m patient, organized, and genuinely invested in helping students improve. My aim is not just better grades, but stronger confidence and independent thinking. When students start believing they can do math, that’s when real progress happens and that’s what I love seeing.

My name is Bisma, and I am a PhD researcher in Artificial Intelligence with an Engineering background and university-level tutoring experience at Victoria University of Wellington. Although I formally tutored Advanced Programming and Data Analytics, mathematics has always been the foundation of my academic and research work.
My teaching approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding rather than memorisation. I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps and ensure students understand the “why” behind each method. I identify gaps in understanding and work patiently to strengthen fundamentals before moving to advanced problems.
A typical lesson lasts 60–90 minutes and includes concept explanation, guided problem-solving, and practice with exam-style questions. I adapt my pace based on the student’s level and confidence.
My lessons are suitable for high school students (including NCEA Levels 1–3) and early university students who need support in algebra, calculus, or statistics. My goal is to build confidence, logical thinking, and long-term academic independence.
