About Jay
Hi, I’m Jay (she/they), a PhD candidate in Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto with over 10 years of experience in science communication, environmental education, and university-level teaching. I offer tutoring in biology, chemistry, environmental science, and writing for learners from elementary through university and beyond. Whether you’re looking for academic support, enrichment, or help with study skills, I tailor each session to your learning style and goals. My approach is interactive, inclusive, and encouraging — I focus on building both confidence and deep understanding. I’ve taught at U of T (ESC203, CME259, CIV300, CIV1399), led youth programs at Evergreen Brickworks and Franklin Children's Garden, and taught programming through The Carpentries. I love working with curious learners of all ages and am especially passionate about making STEM accessible to LGBTQ+ learners.
