About Devin
I got my undergrad and master's at the University of Akron in English Literature, with honors. I am currently in my last year of my PhD (also in literature) at Kent State. My dissertation will be on satirical literature of the post-war era. I have 6 years teaching at the college level. I taught 2 years at Akron, and 4 years at Kent State (college writing 1, so I already have plenty of experience teaching and grading college-level writers.)

I am willing to work online or in person (if less than 40 miles from Akron, Ohio.) My lessons will be tailored to fit the requirements of the student’s course and the student's current writing level. For essays, we will begin with how to find a topic, then how to research that topic, how to create a useful outline for the paper, how to construct a thesis, proper transitions between paragraphs, and how to properly use quotes, cite sources, and finally conclusions. Additional attention will be given to editing the paper, first by reading it aloud to catch errors, poorly worded phrases, and whether the transition between one paragraph (one idea) to another. I am also offering my services for tutoring in creative writing; much of the same techniques will be used, but in addition to the actual writing of the paper, writing prompts and creative exercises will be used as well.
