About Owen
I'm a PhD student at the University of Texas' Institute for Geophysics studying ice sheet modeling, sea level rise, and data science. As a whole, I'm fascinated by the mechanisms of ice sheet collapse and sea level rise, and I study these processes from a variety of perspectives. In terms of my background, I have a bachelor's degree in Geology with Engineering from Dartmouth College and I'm originally from Miami, Florida.

Despite my current career as a geophysicist, I remember occasionally feeling totally lost in STEM classes, whether in high school or college. Sometimes, we all just need a little bit of extra attention and practice to truly make an idea stick. In this vein, my teaching philosophy focuses on instilling students with problem-solving confidence through a combination of practice and explanation, as well as helping students to develop intellectual curiosity through an explanation of the applications of the topics we discuss while tutoring, whether calculus, physics, or environmental science.
