About Ria
I am a current student at Rice University (Houston, TX) studying biochemistry and philosophy. Over the past several years, I have worked with more than 20 students, helping them achieve significant academic growth, including SAT score increases of over 200 points and consistent success on AP exams.
Currently, I work as a cancer researcher at MD Anderson, an EMT for Rice EMS and Hoboken EMS, and a computational engineer for Rice Medical Design.
Last year, I interned at Mount Sinai Hospital, competed in the semifinals for the USA Biology Olympiad (top 3.6%), and worked as a legislative intern for my local councilman. I was awarded the United States Air Force Award for STEM Talent, the RWJBarnabas Science Research Gold Medal, the Emory Institute of Healthcare Innovation Top 5 finalist (top 2.5%), and the Bioethics Bowl Nationals Top 20 Finals. I am passionate and hard-working. I have a strong background in the sciences and humanities, and would be delighted and honored to bring my passion for these subjects to others!

The most important part of learning is to love it! When students are excited about a subject and can fully immerse themselves in it, understanding, confidence, and improved grades follow naturally.
Throughout my academic journey, I have learned how to embrace learning no matter how challenging the subject matter may be. My goal is, of course, to help students master content, but it is also to help them ask questions, make connections, and find something genuinely interesting in what they're learning.
Every lesson I teach is tailored to the student, with a focus on building strong foundations through engaging explanations, real-world examples, and plenty of encouragement! Whether we're breaking down a tricky math problem, exploring the sciences, or crafting a stronger essay, I strive to make learning feel exciting!
I strive to ensure every student leaves our sessions feeling more confident and curious!
