About Christelle
I have been teaching physics and chemistry in the French system for twelve years, and over that time I have taught every level from 6e to Terminale, which is what lets me trace a difficulty back to the year it began.
I studied physics at university, up to master's level, alongside my teaching qualification, and I have kept training throughout my career, including courses in several European countries. I am also an examiner for official exams, which means I know the mark schemes from the other side of the desk: what is really being assessed, how answers earn credit, and where candidates lose points they thought they had.
I now teach in one of London's leading French schools, where I head a department, and each year I write reference letters and support UCAS applications for my own students. I know what the selective universities expect from a candidate coming out of spécialité physique-chimie: the level of reasoning they look for, and the grades that turn a conditional offer into a place.
Teaching is my profession, not a side activity. I teach in French or English, whichever the student is more comfortable with.

I work with students across the whole range: collège and the brevet, seconde, enseignement scientifique, and Première and Terminale in spécialité physique-chimie, including the ECE and the Grand Oral. I also teach technology, SNT and the NSI spécialité.
Every course begins with a diagnostic test that I prepare for each student, according to their level and the subject. It tells me, and the parents, exactly where the difficulty sits before we spend a single lesson guessing.
Most of the students who come to me are not lazy and not weak in science. They have reread the lesson, learnt the formulas, and still come out of the contrôle with 9/20. What is missing is rarely the course itself; it is the step between reading a question and knowing what it is actually asking for. That step is teachable, and it is most of what we do together.
From there we alternate: a concept explained properly, then applied immediately to exam questions until the student can do it without me. I mark their work the way I mark official papers (strictly, and with the reasons written out, because a student who understands why two points were lost does not lose them twice).
Lessons take place at my home in London or online by webcam. Whatever the starting point, the aim is the same: a student who can sit an exam knowing what to do with the paper in front of them.
