About Helen
I have a first class degree in Physics from Durham University and have just completed my PGCE training year. I have experience individually tutoring students at A-level physics and teaching physics, biology and chemistry classes at KS3 and GCSE level. I have taught these subjects according to the AQA exam board specifications however am happy to look into and tutor for other exam boards.

I spend the first session going through the exam board syllabus to gauge which areas the student is confident in and which areas they struggle with, after which we can plan together how long they would like to spend on a particular area. I use PowerPoints to go through the subject (which I am happy to email to students for their own use after the session) with practice questions interspersed throughout and then finishing with exam style questions. I will also speak to the student about what types of revision work best for them and incorporate these techniques into the session e.g through making flashcards, card sort exercises, quickfire questions, verbal explanations etc. I can also point the student in the direction of useful resources such as textbooks, websites and revision techniques.
