About Jonas
I earned my degree in Physics at UNC Chapel Hill, one of the top five public institutions in the country, graduating with distinction. However, in my freshman year of high school I struggled with my math & physics classes: I kept getting distracted in class, discouraged by my poor grades on homework. How did I improve? By goal setting, working with others, and spending the time to develop lesson plans for myself. I worked until I was proficient, and by sophomore year I was able to help others make the connections I had made. I found joy in spreading understanding on these difficult topics, helping others do well in these classes I had once struggled with. This is my motivation with being a tutor - I am invested in my students' success.

My lesson plans use a simple strategy: 1. Identify an attainable learning goal for the student 2. Use active learning problems to find their hang-ups 3. Create lessons tailored to these areas of weakness 4. Strive for improvement until the goal is reached. I have experience tutoring physics and mathematics from the high school (including AP classes) up to the undergraduate level.
