About Bruce
I have a wealth of experience in engaging underrepresented students in physics; women, minorities, and those with disabilities. My nature is an encouraging one, emphasizing physics problem-solving success. I enjoy teaching the qualitative and conceptual aspects of physics, while always strengthening the quantitative and applied aspects of physics problem solving.
My strong background in engineering lends practicality to my teaching.

My teaching approach integrates zero textbook cost lectures and innovative labs, where AAPT research led to the “best approach” that interleaves multiple labs with weekly lectures. The lectures present concise, original narratives with full figures and problem sets, half with worked-out answers and the other half assigned for grading. The lecture sequence is developed from community college curriculum-of-record (COR) for the class to ensure articulation.
What sets me apart is my clear problem-solving techniques that I methodically convey to my students. My retention is excellent, 85-90 percent success.
