About Gareth
I have been teaching physics to 11-18 year-olds with excellent results for many years, because I know well the difficulties, pitfalls and misconceptions that students can encounter as barriers to success. I have written about physics, trained teachers, advised schools and educational publishers and run dozens of physics shows capturing the imagination of audiences of all backgrounds. I love my subject and still find it brimming full of wonder, mystery and excitement and I love passing that enthusiasm on to students young and old.

The secret of success in physics is not just recall of facts and formulae, but understanding the basic principles. This comes by being inspired and motivated by a teacher who truly loves their subject and who can explain things simply and clearly - because even the top physicists can find it challenging sometimes! Encouragement and good humour are also essential elements of my approach.
