About Aishwarya
Hi, I'm Aishwarya, but do call me Ashleigh or Ash! My own father is a musician, so he is the reason I'm even involved in music! I've been a pianist since my first lesson in 2002. I'm currently a singer-songwriter as well, working on my own original songs.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminology. My day job is being a relief teacher in MOE schools, where I also get to teach music occasionally. I got to fully teach music for a year in 2025, teaching keyboard to mostly students with no music experience.
It's through relief teaching that I learned how much I enjoyed teaching. So, my goal now is to become a full-time piano teacher for beginners, while continuing to make my own music and performing with my bands, and tending to my side businesses!

My lessons can be tailored towards:
- Building strong musical foundations, especially if you're new to piano/music
- Learning songs the student enjoys, but you're not interested in taking exams (classical, pop, etc.)
- Preparing for ABRSM exams (Initial, Grades 1 to 5)
- Music theory, aural, sight-reading skills
- Music history (I love sharing background info, knowledge and fun facts!)
Lessons are an hour long, where we work on your playing and some musical theory.
Whether you are completely new to piano, are returning to it, or are taking the next step in ABRSM, I'm happy to offer a trial lesson to see if we are a good fit!
Teaching Style:
- I have no problem slowing down, demonstrating again, or finding a different way to explain something if a student requires it. Students should feel safe to make mistakes without fear.
- At the same time, consistency in between lessons is important. Progress and enjoyment comes from disciplined practice, so I will help set clear goals for students to achieve.
- Small victories are always celebrated!!
I currently hold ABRSM Grade 7, and am now preparing for my Grade 8 practical after some years. In between those years, I continued to play the piano, teach music, to engage in music.
I practice regularly myself, as I believe a teacher who is still actively working on their own playing skills sets a good example for students.
