About Laurie
I hold a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in Instrumental Performance, and I have 9 years of experience teaching piano to students of different ages and skill levels. My interest in piano started at a young age with a deep love for music, which later developed into a passion for teaching. Over the years, I have worked with many students, helping them build strong skills and confidence through structured and supportive lessons.
My teaching approach focuses on patience, clarity, and steady improvement. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to match their pace and comfort level. I use simple explanations, step-by-step guidance, and regular practice methods to help students improve gradually. I also encourage students to enjoy the learning process and stay motivated.
Outside of teaching, I continue practicing piano and exploring different music styles. This helps me improve my own skills and bring fresh ideas into my lessons. Teaching piano is very meaningful to me because I enjoy helping students grow and express themselves through music.

Piano lessons become more effective when students clearly understand how each movement of the hand connects to the sound they create. My lessons focus on building a strong base in note reading, hand coordination, rhythm, and finger control. I explain each concept in a simple and clear way so students can follow comfortably and apply it in practice. Every lesson includes exercises, scales, and pieces that help students improve step by step. I create a calm and supportive environment where students feel confident to learn and practice without pressure.
Beginners start with simple notes, basic hand positions, and easy melodies that build comfort with the keyboard. Intermediate learners work on improving coordination, reading music smoothly, and playing longer pieces. Advanced students focus on musical expression, dynamics, and performance techniques. I adjust lessons based on each student’s level and provide regular feedback to support steady progress.
Learning piano helps students develop discipline, focus, and creativity. As students improve, they enjoy expressing music and feel a strong sense of achievement. Many learners gain confidence and develop a deeper connection with music. My goal is to make piano learning simple, enjoyable, and rewarding so students stay motivated.
