About Jake
Jake is a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a passion for music and, most importantly, helping others discover the joy of playing.
Jake holds a BMus (Hons) in Piano Performance and a PgCert in Piano Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. His studies included several modules focused on piano teaching and pedagogy, alongside practical teaching placements.
He’s been teaching piano for over 6 years, working with students of a wide range of ages and abilities including SEN from complete beginners through to more advanced players. He teaches both classical and contemporary music, and can also help students learn to play by ear, understand chord symbols, and build their ability to arrange pieces, making it easy for his students to play their favourite tunes while also building strong fundamental skills!
Jake has completed multiple safeguarding training courses and takes the safety and wellbeing of his students very seriously.

Jake’s approach focuses on building confidence, developing technique, and creating an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. Jake supports students to prepare for exams such as the ABRSM and Rockschool exams, but if you don’t want to take exams, that’s perfectly fine too!
As both a performer and teacher, Jake is committed to helping students to unlock their full musical potential while fostering a relaxed yet focused environment where students can thrive and achieve their musical aspirations.
