About Sammie
Music has been a part of my life since I was a child. My mother, Dr. Suman Sharma, a concert sitarist, encouraged me early on to learn piano, which changed the course of my life. While attending Hollins University, I was active in the local Valley Chamber Orchestra, playing both piano and violin; was the staff accompanist at a local Brethren Church, playing congregational hymns, interludes, preludes, and postludes. In May 2017, I received my teaching certificate & earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. I took rigorous courses in music theory, music history, sight singing and ear training, piano pedagogy, piano literature, ensemble preparation, and piano technique; which has prepared me for today, as I teach adult students through a unique approach.

My piano lessons are a balance of education and enjoyment. Adult students will learn music fundamentals along with creative concepts such as improvisation and composition. Musical repertoire is hand selected carefully so that you can learn the music that lights a fire in you instead of boring, standard songs such as "Mary Had A Little Lamb."
