About Jonathan
I have over 10 years of teaching experience and hold the ARSM Diploma in Performance with Distinction from ABRSM. Many of my students have achieved Merit and Distinction in their examinations.
I am also a MOE-registered instructor, with experience working as a choir accompanist, which has further strengthened my collaborative and musical skills.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy improvisation and composition, and my original work, How the Universe Began, was showcased by Steinway Artist Wang Congyu.

My teaching approach is centred on building a strong musical foundation while making lessons enjoyable and meaningful for each student. I tailor my methodology to the individual, combining structured technique training (such as scales, sight-reading, and finger exercises) with repertoire learning and musical expression. I also incorporate theory to support well-rounded development.
For students interested in exams, I provide focused preparation aligned with ABRSM requirements, while leisure learners are guided at a comfortable pace with music they enjoy. I also encourage creativity through improvisation and composition, helping students explore music beyond traditional learning.
Lessons are 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level, and learning goals. I would travel to your home to conduct lessons.
