About Aaliyah
Singing has always been more than a skill—it’s a way to communicate what words alone can’t. In my 6 years of experience as a vocal coach, I’ve seen firsthand how empowering it can be for students to discover that their voice is an instrument of expression, confidence, and connection. My teaching method is centered on the balance between strong technical foundations and bold, creative self-expression. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs, blending classical vocal techniques with contemporary applications. We cover everything from breath support and vocal resonance to musical phrasing and performance preparation. But I also make space for the emotional side of singing—how to bring vulnerability, storytelling, and presence into your performance. Every student’s journey is different, and I make it a point to meet them exactly where they are. I use warm-up sequences designed for different vocal types, real-time pitch correction software, and reflective listening practices to help students become more aware and in control of their sound. We explore multiple genres and moods, often doing “genre swaps” or weekly themes like Movie Soundtrack Week or Acoustic Covers Week, which challenge students to explore beyond their usual preferences. I firmly believe in creating a judgment-free space where students can feel supported, even when trying something new or difficult. My role is to be a coach, a guide, and sometimes even a cheerleader when it feels hard. I’ve worked with students performing live regularly, those recovering from vocal strain, and those simply looking for a hobby that feeds their spirit. I emphasize vocal health as a core part of our practice—hydration, healthy speaking habits, emotional awareness, and sustainable warm-up routines are all integrated into our curriculum. Whether you’re preparing for a big stage, developing your songwriting, or just learning to enjoy your voice, my mission is to make sure you walk away from each session stronger, wiser, and more in love with your sound.

Singing is a profound synthesis of body, mind, and spirit, where technical mastery meets heartfelt communication. My teaching philosophy is rooted in cultivating this balance by fostering a secure technical foundation alongside a rich emotional and intellectual connection to music.
We begin with an individualized approach to technique, focusing on breath management, vocal fold coordination, resonance balancing, and smooth registration transitions. I prioritize vocal health by encouraging mindful listening and body awareness, helping students to avoid tension and vocal strain.
Technique is never an end in itself but a vehicle to express meaning, so from early on, students engage with interpretation by analyzing text, emotional subtext, and stylistic nuances. I integrate creative methods such as improvisation, character work, and visualization to deepen expressive skills and promote authentic performance. Additionally, I emphasize cultural literacy by exploring the historical, social, and political contexts of repertoire, fostering a respectful and informed relationship with the music.
Perseverance is central to my pedagogy; I encourage students to embrace challenges as part of the learning process, developing resilience through consistent practice, constructive feedback, and goal-setting. My studio is a supportive environment where curiosity, artistic risk-taking, and self-compassion thrive, helping each student to evolve as a confident, expressive, and thoughtful singer.
