About Calvin
Having spent five years working with students from all over the world aspiring to master the French and Spanish languages, I have grown accustomed to accommodating the particular learning objectives, preferences, and needs of students. I assign high value to a strong student-teacher relationship underpinned by trust, openness, and commitment. I value language not only as a professional asset in the form of a highly valuable skill, but also as an artifact of intercultural communication and a gateway to perceiving the world from a novel perspective. My lessons revolve around a practical methodology underpinned by pragmatism and daily use. Through conversational rehearsal, I train students how to use French and Spanish in daily scenarios and, for more advanced students, how to discuss more complex topics in significant detail. This entails a strong focus on correct pronunciation and accent training.
Moreover, I work with students aiming to improve their reading comprehension. I provide texts suitable to students' levels of proficiency in order to train them to extract the core elements of fiction/non-fiction texts.
My classes are designed primarily for speakers whose proficiency falls between levels A1 and B2 (beginner to upper intermediate).
