About Ashleigh Kate
I left my home country at 21 after finishing 4 years at university and I have been teaching ever since (with a small break to do my MA degree). I am now 31 so I have over 10 years of experience. Over the course of that decade I have met and kept in touch with students from all over the world who I have taught in different settings. I love watching students grow, gain confidence and reach their learning goals. I will always put my students first and encourage feedback to ensure I am making the best teaching choices in relation to their individualized learning.

The minimum length of my lessons is 60 minutes. My approach to teaching English as a second language is different depending on the skill. For example, with speaking my primary goal is to have students feel confident to use the language rather than fixate on using perfect grammar. In a grammar lesson, I do like to be more technical and get the foundations right so that when students advance into more complex academic English, they always have the basics in their toolkit. My teaching methodology is centered on the student and I see my role as more of a facilitator to learning and discovery. I draw on a number of different resources to plan my lessons and as I get to know the student I really try to tailor the material to suit their interests to keep them engaged.
I taught middle school students in South Korea for two years. I taught kindergarten - university-aged students in Vietnam for 5 years. My lessons can be adapted to any age or level.
