About Adam
I'm Adam, I'm just starting my postgraduate Masters degree studying Computer Science with Speech and Language Processing at the University of Sheffield. I hold a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from the same university.
During my undergraduate studies I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant in an undergraduate class and began one-on-one tutoring with a couple of students from the same class. I found tutoring to be very fulfilling and fun; watching my students improve has made me want to continue tutoring.
Outside of studying you can find me hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking or making up some other excuse to be outside in the fresh air :)

I like to break down problems with a student and help build up their knowledge and confidence on smaller exercises until they're ready to bring together all that they know and tackle more difficult tasks. I believe that allowing a student to confront problems independently while asking questions for guidance is the best way to build their confidence.
I'm happy to work through homework, help build an understanding of concepts that aren't fully understood or even set my own challenges that we can work through together. In my lessons no question is too simple or too complex - I want students to leave feeling confident, not having to make guesses about what they don't understand.
I have experience working with young children in a forest school, have tutored undergraduate students and worked as a teaching assistant in an undergraduate class. I've most recently gained experience providing Python tutoring to children aged 11-16 at a summer school (and really enjoyed it!)
I am comfortable teaching children from secondary school up to sixth form age, though if you have any queries about tutoring for younger children or undergraduate students please send me a message.
My strongsuit is the Python programming language - I would describe myself as 'fluent' ;)
