About Sean
I am a native Chinese speaker and a current student at the University of Sydney. I also studied high school in Singapore, which gave me the experience of living and learning in a different language environment.
I have traveled to more than 20 countries, and I deeply understand the feeling of being in a place where you do not speak the local language. It can be exciting and interesting, but sometimes also stressful when you need to ask for directions, order food, take transport, or solve small travel problems.
This is one of the reasons why I want to teach practical Mandarin Chinese. I do not want my lessons to be boring or too textbook-based. Instead, I want to help students learn useful Chinese that they can actually use in real situations, especially when traveling in China.
English is not my first language, so I understand that learning a new language takes time and confidence. I hope my lessons can feel friendly, relaxed, and easy to follow. I also believe learning is mutual, so I keep my price reasonable and hope to make friends with people from different backgrounds through teaching Chinese.
My goal is to help more people become interested in Chinese and Chinese culture, instead of feeling that the language is too difficult or too formal.

I teach practical Mandarin Chinese for people who want to travel to China or use Chinese in real-life situations. My lessons are not focused on memorising long grammar rules. Instead, I help students learn useful phrases, simple conversations, and cultural tips that they can actually use in China.
In my lessons, I usually start with a real situation, such as ordering food, asking for directions, taking a taxi, checking into a hotel, shopping, or using public transport. Then I teach the key words and sentences, explain how to use them, and practise short conversations with the student. I also help with pronunciation and speaking confidence.
Each lesson is usually 1 hour. I am a native Chinese speaker and a current student at the University of Sydney. As someone familiar with both Chinese daily life and studying in Australia, I can help students learn Mandarin in a practical and friendly way.
