About Catherine
I have a postgraduate certificate in Autism (distinction) from London Southbank University. I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and Play Therapist with over 20 years of experience working in both mainstream and specialist settings. I have worked in Special Needs for over 15 years, specialising in Autism. I managed an OFSTED Outstanding Specialist Nursery for children with Autism and/or Social Communication Difficulties for 9 years. I am highly skilled in supporting young children with language, communication and social skills. I am experienced across all subjects in the EYFS and Primary Key Stage One curriculum. I am also confident teaching core subjects in Key Stage 2 and have successfully supported students up to GCSE level in English Literature. For the last 3 years I have been working as a SEN tutor. My approach is holistic; supporting the child's emotional, mental, and physical development in addition to academic goals. I devise creative, bespoke curriculums which build on the child's interests and strengths. I support both academic and EHCP outcomes as set by the Speech and Language and Occupational Therapist. I enjoy working in partnership with parents sharing targets, progress and success. My fees include: Tutoring: 60 minute child session and a short summary report (for parents) following the session. I offer a 30 minute free online child session and a 15 minute parent consultation (by video/phone) to discuss your child's needs and to begin thinking about a programme of support. I will then devise an individualised support plan incorporating parent goals, SEN support plan and EHCP targets. Online tutoring and support works really well for most neurodivergent children. I use a high level of visual support, music and games to keep children focused and motivated to learn. PRIMARY/EYFS CURRICULUM SUPPORT I offer Primary/EYFS support across the curriculum including: communication and language, social skills, self-esteem and managing feelings. I am also experienced in supporting literacy and numeracy skills. I am particularly passionate about sharing my love of reading and creative writing. I provide a high level of visual support and specialist strategies e.g. communicate in print and colourful semantics. EHCP SUPPORT I am experienced in supporting speech and language and occupational therapy targets. EOTAS/Home Schooling Programmes I am experienced in developing and supporting home school curriculums. AUTPLAY THERAPY A directive therapy for neurodivergent children, working in partnership with parents. Focusing on supporting the child's communication, social skills and emotional regulation (managing feelings). I am happy to discuss this further with you, if this is an intervention you are interested in. I look forward to hearing from you. Katy

Perfect! Among all the trial sessions we've had with other tutors, we decided to proceed with Katy. She stood out for her patience, understanding, and thorough preparation, even during the initial session. Katy demonstrated a clear expertise in engaging children with ASD, and her calm, encouraging approach helped my child feel comfortable and at ease. We’re excited to continue working with her and are confident in the positive impact she will have on our child’s development!
Perfect! Great tutor! Patient and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

I had weekly sessions with Catherine for about 6 months to help my autistic daughter. The time we spent with Catherine was priceless. I thought I new a lot about autism but she deepened my understanding and knowledge of ASD. Her approach is very caring, calm and generous. She helped us on so many levels and was able to give lots of great recommendations to the school as well. Her impact on my daughter self esteem and help with her anxiety and social skills is something I am most grateful.
Catherine is very professional and trustworthy. I was very keen to find someone who would understand my Autistic son’s needs and should acquire tools that would help him grow. My 5 year old loved her presence and Catherine put all her energy and soul into mapping ways to bring a positive and constructive patterns in his learning. My son’s comfort, safety and his emotional well being was her priority. She always went out of her way to bring joy in his learning. It was a wonderful experience.
Catherine partnered with us to 1:1 tutor a student aged 14 with Special Educational Needs including ASD in the primary curriculum for a full academic year full time in the family home. Catherine built an amazing rapport with the young person and was able to encourage communication through makaton.
Working with the student and her family she designed curriculum, liaised with therapists and the local authority and provided in depth reports to assist with the EOTAS plan.
A highly experienced tutor, Catherine will bring out the best in her students and I have no hesitation in recommending her.Catherine is an amazing Sen teacher that would go above and beyond in her support. She has a lot of SEN experience and we are as a family very grateful to all her support's to our child both in school and at home.
She made a huge difference in our life by giving us lots of advice and recommendations on how to manage at school and at home and without her help we would be lost by now. we saw a huge progress in our child and
most importantly she was happier and much calmer.
Also, Catherine made us aware of some of the challenges our child was facing and some of the ways to tacle these difficulties at home/day trips or at school. We will always be greatful appreciate her support.Catherine has worked with our autistic son (now 11yrs old) for two years now, she is a sensational autism therapist, as well as kind and thoughtful, and he would not be half as happy or socially advanced without her help over this time.
When we first hired Catherine, my husband inquired how long this would be lasting, as it was a significant expense, but within a month of weekly sessions had stopped asking this because the benefits were already obvious in our son being happier and more able to cope in social settings. He has learnt a lot of skills and techniques from her and has gently 'let go' of resentment and upset over past friendships or past situations that had not worked out due to his lack of social skills, then gone on to successfully build new friendships (they worked on specific topics for this such as turn-taking in conversation, how to plan and manage play dates, managing friendships, etc.). She also spent time with us as parents, passing on tips, techniques and both advice and supportive comments. We learnt to do things like write social stories, manage difficult emotions and she even did sibling work with our other child to support her emotionally and both of them together to support their relationship. She was very supportive throughout our (successful) EHCP application process and was able to identify steps we could take to move towards a positive outcome.View more recommendations
