About Weixuan

Hello! I'm a working professional, a father of two primary school boys, and someone who has genuinely loved Mathematics for as long as I can remember.

Mathematics has always been my strongest subject. I consistently achieved straight As in Mathematics throughout my academic journey, from primary school all the way to university. What I enjoy most about Mathematics is that it rewards understanding and logical thinking. Once you grasp the underlying concepts, even complicated problems become much easier to approach.

Professionally, I have built my career in engineering, technology and leadership roles, where analytical thinking, structured problem-solving and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly are essential. These are the same skills I hope to share with my students.

However, what truly motivates me to teach is being a father.

With two sons in primary school, I understand the challenges parents face when helping their children with Mathematics. I have seen how a child can struggle with a question, become frustrated, and then experience that wonderful moment when everything finally makes sense.

I also understand that academic results are not everything. A child's confidence, curiosity and willingness to try are equally important. Sometimes, all a child needs is someone who can explain a concept differently, give them a little more patience, and help them realize that they are capable of solving it.

I'm not here simply to drill students with endless worksheets. I want to help them develop a strong mathematical foundation, think independently and discover the satisfaction of solving problems themselves.

**My goal is simple: to help your child become better at Mathematics, but more importantly, to help them believe that they can be good at it.**

As a parent, that is exactly what I would want for my own children.

I believe every child can do well in Mathematics when they are taught in a way that makes sense to them. My goal is not simply to help students score better, but to help them genuinely understand Mathematics, develop confidence and eventually enjoy solving problems on their own.

Having consistently achieved straight As in Mathematics from primary school through to university, I have always enjoyed the subject and the logical thinking behind it. As a father of two primary school boys, I also understand firsthand how frustrating Mathematics can sometimes be for children, especially when they struggle with word problems or cannot understand why a particular method works.

**My teaching approach focuses on three key areas:**

1. **Understanding before memorizing:** I break down difficult concepts into simple, relatable explanations, using everyday examples and visual methods where appropriate. I want students to understand why an answer is correct, rather than simply memorize steps.

2. **Building problem-solving skills:** I guide students through questions progressively, helping them identify important information, recognize patterns and develop logical reasoning. Particular attention is given to word problems, heuristics and model drawing, which are important in Singapore's primary school Mathematics curriculum.

3. **Building confidence and independence:** I believe mistakes are part of learning. I encourage students to ask questions without fear and gradually develop the ability to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.

**Lessons are suitable for Primary 1 to Primary 6 students**, whether they need help strengthening their foundations, keeping up with schoolwork, or preparing for school examinations and PSLE Mathematics.

Each lesson will be tailored to the student's current understanding, learning pace and areas of difficulty. I will first identify where the student is struggling, explain the underlying concepts, and reinforce their understanding through guided practice.

As a parent myself, I know that every child learns differently. My approach is patient, encouraging and focused on meaningful progress rather than unnecessary pressure.

Ultimately, my greatest satisfaction would be seeing a child who once said "I cannot do Maths" become someone who confidently says "I know how to solve this!"
