  • How long have you been interested in languages and English in particular?

It all started when I was 8. I discovered that I had a particular taste for English, fortunately, I was offered the opportunity to take private lessons and obviously, I met a teacher who discovered the talent I have to develop in languages. It was not only the talent but the way in which a single person, passionate about what he does, can create or discover a potential in you that can possibly be shared with other people as is happening right now in this teaching process.
  • Which English-speaking writer has managed to keep you engaged in their book for hours? Which book was it?

Oscar Wilde, without a doubt, his most famous work: The Picture of Dorian Gray. It is not only about the plot but also the way in which he can describe every detail and account for so much of the grammatical element of the English language that it helps effective learning.
  • Which English song do you not get tired of hearing over and over again? Why?

Lemon Tree - Fool's garden. It's the song I started my learning process with. Therefore, it has a meaning in me as it reflects my great advancement in the language. In addition, it is a song with an excellent rhythm and very successful in the last century.
  • The time has come to open the drawer of secrets... Tell us, have you ever struggled with English?

Quite a bit. When I was learning everything was going well until I got to conditionals. I had a hard time learning this so much that I felt a little withdrawn by the language. Today I start to think and I don't know what it was that prevented me from learning them. It's just knowing the structure of compound verb tenses and creating hypotheses.

I think at that time I lacked a little more commitment or concentration. The latter is very important because it can be a huge disadvantage when learning a language.
  • Which expression in English do you like the most? Which one do you use the most?

Damn it! Undoubtedly, it can be a very versatile expression to designate both positive and negative things in extremely versatile contexts. On the other hand, a word I use a lot is "alright" I find it very cool to answer a greeting and come out a little monotony of "fine, thank you".
  • Tell us an anecdote of while you were working or during your studies (that doesn’t start with “one time at a party...“, if possible ;)

I consider it to be one of the most shameful experiences I have had with this language. Among so many worksheet, one day I found a conjugation of verbs in different verb tenses, I can not say exactly what happened to me: Laziness? Lack of motivation? Stress? In any case, I had to pass a sentence to simple past with the verb To Be and I came up with the wonderful idea of placing "didn't was". The worst thing was not the mistake, but the fact that I passed it by unperceived and noticed it in the moment when I was socializing the exercise in class

I still remember and laugh, and regret, such a basic mistake with so many years of study. Even so, it gives me some euphoria to remember because from such basic mistakes you can learn a lot because they are anecdotes that help you both learn and teach others.
  • What would you say to a student who says “English is super difficult”?

I've come across similar situations. However, I am one of those people who, when their students expose themselves to difficult things, do NOT tell them: that's not difficult, it's a piece of cake.

For me it's not easy or difficult, I accept that there are issues too complex to understand at first, but instead of refuting that something is difficult what I do is encourage them: Yes, it's difficult, but you can do hard things.

And just as my students can do difficult things, I can see abilities in them that clearly reflect a great command of the language over a certain period of time.
  • In your opinion, what are the qualities that an English Superprof should have?

It is not only about knowledge, but also about discipline, patience, evaluative forms and analysis in search of knowledge. I mean, grasping that knowledge, scrutinizing it and making it something that motivates the student to learn English.

Let's NOT learn English out of necessity; whether it's a grade or an entrance exam or something like that. Let's learn for life, to culturalize ourselves, to be more involved in a global world of experiences and opportunities in our lives.
