About Sofía
I am an international DMA candidate from Mexico, where I finished my undergraduate degree in performance. I am very passionate about music making and that has led me to travel around in search of opportunities to learn more and play with other musicians. Though I have played in mostly orchestras and chamber ensembles, I also have a lot of experience playing contemporary genres for a variety of settings and occasions, including for films, weddings, restaurants, and more. In addition, I am familiar with the viola repertoire and can play the viola to an intermediate level. As a teacher, I have taught in both private and group settings, with students from ages 3-40. I am fluent in both Spanish and English.

The goal of my lessons is for the student to be confident and comfortable with their instrument. I am patient and direct with students, and I am very invested in their individual growth. I like to develop the student’s interests and goals musically and provide the fundamental and technical support they need to reach them.
I am an experienced orchestra and chamber musician, but I have performed in various settings such as for classical recordings, movies, wedding gigs, restaurants, and other live concerts, so I am very flexible with what the student would like to work on.
