About Tessa
I am an experienced chess tutor with 10 years of teaching students at high school and college levels. Over the years, I have successfully guided around 300 students, helping them improve their skills, strategic thinking, and love for the game. My teaching philosophy centers on clarity, adaptability, and accountability. I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style, ensuring concepts are easy to understand and practically applicable.
I focus on building strong foundations in openings, tactics, middle-game strategies, and endgame techniques. I also emphasize critical thinking, calculation skills, pattern recognition, and decision-making under pressure. Interactive lessons, real-game analysis, and practical exercises are key parts of my sessions, making learning engaging and effective.
I encourage creativity and experimentation while maintaining discipline, helping students develop their unique playing style. Lessons include openings, middle-game planning, endgame techniques, and tactical puzzles to develop problem-solving skills. I also teach pattern recognition, calculation, and critical thinking, helping students make decisions under pressure.
Adaptation is central to my methodology. I adjust teaching methods to suit visual, auditory, or hands-on learners. I use interactive exercises, analysis of famous games, and real-time practice matches to reinforce understanding. Students also explore chess variants, time management strategies, and competitive preparation to enhance versatility.
