About Chelsey
I am a native Mandarin speaker with a strong academic and teaching background. I graduated from the University of Nottingham and have worked as a curriculum developer at Beijing Foreign Studies University, as well as an Academic English lecturer at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.
These experiences have given me a solid understanding of how languages are learned effectively, especially for students from different backgrounds and levels. I am familiar with structured teaching methods, lesson planning, and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs.

Hi, I’m a Mandarin Chinese tutor based in Rathdowney. I graduated from the University of Nottingham and previously worked as a curriculum developer at Beijing Foreign Studies University, as well as an Academic English lecturer at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology. With my background in both language teaching and course design, I understand how to help students learn efficiently and build real confidence.
My teaching style is practical, relaxed and tailored to each student. I focus on helping you actually use Chinese in real-life situations, not just memorise vocabulary. Depending on your goals, lessons can include speaking practice, pronunciation correction, useful daily expressions, or structured learning such as HSK preparation. I also adapt materials for different age groups, especially making classes engaging and interactive for younger learners.
A typical lesson is 100 minutes, but I can adjust the length if needed. Lessons are suitable for all ages and levels — from complete beginners to advanced learners who want to improve fluency or accuracy.
