My name is Yash Jain, and I am a 3rd year medical student studying Medicine at the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). I have been tutoring online for 2 years now teaching Chemistry A level and GCSE as well as Maths GCSE consistently. I have taught a range of students of different abilities and have been able to adapt my teaching style to suit my students, challenge them and motivate them to improve. I feel very confident in helping any student improve over several months of weekly lessons, and I love seeing students gain confidence and succeed in their GCSEs and A-levels.
A typical lesson will involve covering a topic that the student has informed me of before the lesson, allowing me sufficient time to prepare materials and a plan for the lesson. I will go through the content of a topic in the first 30 minutes of the lesson, explaining the different types of questions that are asked in exams whilst also asking the student questions, to make the lesson engaging and so the lesson isn't like a lecture. For the last 30 minutes I will give the student questions, starting with straightforward questions that I would expect the student to get right having gone through the content, then moving onto exam-style questions that are more difficult. Over a period of several months, I can expect the student to improve as we will hopefully cover a range of topics and if the student is getting questions right that I am providing them with, they will gain confidence to be able to replicate this in the assessments and exams that they have in the future.
